This moderate run through Morris and Hunterdon counties in NJ will provide about 75 miles of fun to drive roads along with head turning scenery and sights. Starting in Benardsville, NJ we will pass some of the more extravagant homes in NJ as we wind our way through Medham and other tawny suburbs.

Next we will pick up the historical aspects of out trip following and finding current and former railroads that served this area including glimpses of a defunct short rail line that served the apple and cider industry around the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Further in Hunterdon County we encounter key trails and major roadways of the Revolutionary period and the many taverns that served their travelers. About 10 of these historic sites, some still in operation, provided the travelers food, drink and sleeping accommodations along the wagon and carriage routes that connected Philadelphia, Trenton and New York as well as the outlying areas of western NJ.

After winding through the Round Valley Reservoir we will end out trip at a great Stewart’s Drive-In in Lebanon NJ a stop we have visited before. If you have questions please contact me at events@delval.org or 973.839.1702.

To register go to the events site and scroll to this event. The run is limited to 20 cars so sign up now.
