Sometimes nature presents some very interesting visual sights; in this case it created a very interesting audio experience. A TV spot about the Ringing Rocks Park set me on a hunt to incorporate it into a run. Our trip will start at the McDonald’s at 536 US Highway 22 E, in Whitehouse, NJ.  On Sunday July 23 we will form up at 10 AM and depart at 10:30 immediately motoring north into the rural parts of Morris and Somerset counties.  A few miles north of our start the route will bear left and head around the northern shore of the Round Lake Reservoir on our way to Milford NJ for a brief break. Since there are limited facilities and no refreshments at the park we will make a very short drive from our break and take in the unique Ringing Rocks State Park. A short walk from the parking area is the rock field for which the park is named. Bring your hammer, perhaps walking shoes as well, and be amazed at the unique sound of the rocks found in this field. Scientists have spent years trying to understand the phenomena and there is no certain answer to the mystery. But frankly we don’t care it is just a cool place to visit. Once we are back in our cars we will loop back to NJ and cross the Delaware River at Frenchtown. From there we enjoy the country side on our way to the Round Valley State park and Lebanon, NJ. Our lunch break will be at the Stewart's Drive In stand on Route 22 in Lebanon a site enjoyed by the drivers on one of our summer nights tours last year.
